Spanish airports re-open after ash cloud alert

The displacement of the ash cloud produced by the volcanic eruption of Iceland has allowed for the reopening of the airports of Asturias, Santander, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Vitoria and LogroƱo.

However, the cloud moving eastwards and could affect, some airports in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.

Aena suggest passengers flying in the next few hours should contact their airline or transport agent before going to the airport.

Also, according to Eurocontrol, airspace has currently total or partial restrictions for operation of civilian aircraft in the following countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania and Switzerland.
