Cruise Line Imposes Fuel Supplement

Passengers making Fred Olsen Cruise Lines bookings from next week will be charged a £3 per night fuel supplement.

The company blamed the high price of Brent crude oil for the imposition of the supplement which comes into place for bookings from May 5.

The supplement of £3 per person per cruise night applies to a maximum of £60 and £1.50 per person per cruise night for third and subsequent occupants of a cabin, to a maximum of £30.

The charges apply to all bookings made on departures featured in the line’s 2010-11 Worldwide brochure and the 2011 Preview brochure.

Should the price of Brent crude oil fall back to £45 per barrel or below, averaged across the month prior to date of departure, the fuel supplement will be refunded to the passenger in the form of onboard spending credit, the company said.

“Agents should note that the supplement is non-commissionable,” Fred Olsen said.
